CHLADNI PATTERNS
A Chladni pattern is a geometric shape that forms on a flat surface, such as a metal plate, when it is vibrated at a specific resonant frequency. Fine particles, like sand, are sprinkled on the plate and then vibrate away from areas of high vibration (antinodes) to settle in the areas of minimal movement (nodes), clearly outlining the vibration pattern. These patterns are a visual representation of the standing waves on the surface of the object and are used in fields like acoustics and musical instrument design to understand and predict how objects will vibrate.
CYMATICS
Cymatics is the study of making visible sound and vibration patterns by observing how vibrations affect a medium like sand, water, or paste. The term comes from the Greek word "kyma" (wave), and it uses a vibrating surface, often a plate with particles on top, to create complex geometric shapes that change with different sound frequencies. Cymatics reveals the hidden geometry within sound and has applications in art, science, and even healing.
